Audiologists and speech-language pathologists from Hearts for Hearing attended the 16th Symposium on Cochlear Implants in Children from July 11 to 13 in Hollywood, Florida. This event is put on by the American Cochlear Implant Alliance.
Dr. Jace Wolfe and Dr. Sara Neumann, doctors of audiology at Hearts for Hearing, presented at the conference.
“We had a great week in Florida learning about the latest research in cochlear implants and auditory verbal therapy” said Abby Brett, Speech-Language Pathologist. “Some specific topics we had the opportunity to learn about include: working with bilingual cochlear implant patients, family engagement in therapy, literacy outcomes for children with cochlear implants, and how adverse childhood experiences affect both children and parents and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach when treating these patients. I was also very proud to see Dr. Wolfe and Dr. Neumann share about some of the amazing research in which Hearts for Hearing has been involved.”
We are incredibly proud of our team for representing Hearts for Hearing at the conference. It was a great opportunity for our team to present what they have learned through their research as well as learn more about the newest research on cochlear implants in pediatric patients.
The mission of the American Cochlear Implant (ACI) Alliance is to advance access to the gift of hearing provided by cochlear implantation through research, advocacy and awareness. You can learn more at https://www.acialliance.org.
