Norman is the third largest city in Oklahoma with a population of approximately 120,000. It sits on the southern edge of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and is famous as the home of our State’s flagship research university, The University of Oklahoma. The community is well known for both a thriving downtown area and campus corner, tree-lined neighborhoods, recreational Lake Thunderbird, restaurants, and bars. The Oklahoma Sooners winning athletic programs offer year-round spectator sports from football, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, baseball, men’s and women’s gymnastics, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and more. Other Norman cultural assets include Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, home to the largest university-based collection of French impressionist paintings in the world, nearby Jacobson House Native Art Center, once home to the famed Kiowa 6, offers rotating exhibits celebrating Native American art and culture, and Sam Noble Museum of Natural History showcases Oklahoma’s natural history from pre-history to current day. University musical and theater programs are also part of the community’s cultural fabric, and Norman hosts an annual Renaissance Fair and Jazz Music Festival.
