Lisa Hunter, owner of Cinderella’s Dance Studio, and her family hosted their 10th annual Daddy-Daughter dance benefiting Hearts for Hearing on Saturday, February 22, at The Civic Center in Elk City, Okla. The Daddy-Daughter dance raised $15,550 for Hearts for Hearing this year and had over 600 people in attendance.
“The Snow Ball dance is the perfect way to benefit both Hearts for Hearing and the community,” said Lisa Hunter. “There is no better investment than that of time spent with family; for these girls to have the undivided attention of their dads for a night is priceless. My hope is that they’ve made memories to last a lifetime while knowing they’ve helped make a difference in the lives of those who will be able to listen for a lifetime.”
The Daddy-Daughter dance was an evening filled with lots of dancing, fun, and special moments between dads and daughters. The Daddy-Daughter Dance takes place every year during the third weekend in February and hosts attendees who drive in from almost ten different communities surrounding Elk City.
“Lisa’s passion for this event and her capacity to raise funds is truly a blessing to our organization,” said Joanna Smith, Founder and CEO of Hearts for Hearing. “The best advocates for our program are parents whose children have benefitted, and Lisa is constantly finding ways to give back. The fact that she has single-handedly planned and executed such an amazing event for 10 years reflects her desire to support our mission and we are deeply grateful.”
Over time, the Hunters’ Daddy-Daughter Dance has raised about $100,000 that goes directly to Hearts for Hearing. The money raised from this event allows Hearts for Hearing to continue its mission of giving children with hearing loss the opportunity to learn to listen and talk for a lifetime.
Hearts for Hearing began in 2003 to provide funding for the initial set of hearing aids for children with hearing loss in Oklahoma. In 2007, its mission expanded to become a comprehensive hearing health clinic for both children and adults. Hearts for Hearing provides a collaborative model of audiologists and speech-language pathologists working together to provide the best outcomes. In 2013, an adult clinic was opened to meet the specific needs of adults with hearing loss in Oklahoma.
